125 Years of Customer Service
Early in 1891, George B. Sprowls gave up his job as a country school teacher and with the sum of $50 entered into the sale of buggies, wagons, harnesses, cook stoves and general merchandise for farm and home in a small back alley store in Claysville, Pa. As business grew, he expanded into the sale of automobiles in Claysville and another retail store in Washington, PA, which included home appliances.
By the standards of his time, "Old George B" was considered the original discounter and flagrant promoter, going as far as purchasing and selling a carload of Christmas candy for many years for the annual event known far and wide as the Sprowls Big Party.
Five generations later, buggies and harnesses have given way to french door refrigerators and high efficiency laundry. Our cook stoves now have five burners and convection ovens. We've traded farm goods for such brands as Amana, Bosch, Frigidaire, GE, Maytag, and more.
However, the foundation of our business remains the same; the best possible products at fair prices, backed up by personal service before, during, and after the sale.
We look forward to helping you at Sprowls City Appliance, serving Washington, Hickory, Burgettstown, Canonsburg, McMurray, Scenery Hill, Marianna, Cokeburg, Claysville, Avella, East and West Finley, Valley Grove, WV, Elm Grove, WV and Wheeling areas for over 125 years.
