Scratches on the panel

I bought this new replacemnet microwave to match as closely as I could to the original one that came with the house. It really matches my other stainless steel appliances well. I chose this one because it didnʼt have a outward handle. BUT I have to complain about the panel. Right out of the box the panel had a few hairline scratches all over it, I thoughtbI could live with the few I saw. But after week of use, I was cleaning the panel with a soft cloth and windex, I noticed tons of scratches on the panel, and tge start button has a whiteish spot that looks permanent now. As time went on more scratches appeared. I am sad to see that on a BRAND NEW appliance, and we paid a lot for it. I took photos for you to see of the panel. The panel on this AMANA looks terrible, even my old GE didnt have a scratch on it when we recycled it because it just stopped working. WHY would the panel on your appʼiance have scratches? My husband said there might have been a protective covering over the face of the panel and that is whats so scratched up. THAT is not the case, I wish it were. I hate that it is new but looks shabby when the light hits that panel just right. Has anyone else complained and what do you suggest? How can I fix this issue? This microwave works fine, however, I don't like the roller underneath the glass turntable being loose instead of fitting into the center of the unit. I also miss the quick start feature I had on my other microwave...push 1, 2 or 3 for an auto start for that number of minutes. I do like the interior that is easy to clean, I don't like it not displaying the Amana name anywhere on the unit. That being said, it's a good value unit.

Unexplained features

The defrost feature is basically useless. Where do I find the food code? The user manual says to enter the food code and then the weight. And now I need to keep a scale in the kitchen to weigh the food I'm defrosting. My old GE microwave simply asked for a defrost time. The light underneath to light up the cook top is also horrible. I replaced the bulb with a LED bulb that will not shut off. I end up sticking a magnetic under counter light so I can see what I'm cooking. Otherwise is works. Also I haven't figured out how to use the other features because the "User Manual" is useless. Sadly probably my last Amana appliance.

Bought about 2 months ago and we love the look. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there wasn™€™t any instructions on how to use the defrost. Had to figure that out on our own. We are seniors and needed better details on instructions. The appliance works great.

Dead clock less than a month after purchase

Clock died 3 weeks after install. Microwave still works but can't read the time or the timer when I set it. Phone wait time for warranty support is over an hour, even when I call at 8am or 5pm. Not a positive experience. Won't purchase from Amana again.

The only thing I would let people know is that the range light is not very bright. I just purchased a magnetic led light to get some extra light. Problem solved.

I am very disappointed. I really want to start to support American made products, but it's a little hard when the quality is not up to par. Brand new over the range microwave. I was utilizing the Fan, it was stuck on speed 2. I couldn't utilize speed one. I spent a lot of money to have it installed and now it doesn't work properly. I had to unplug to get the thing to turn off.

Due to an accidental fire in my kitchen I was forced to purchase a new microwave. I didn™€™t realize how many there were and the prices were out of my range. We came across this Amana and thought it to be a good brand. Compared to the one we had this one is just average. I really don™€™t like the push button to open it. I would prefer a handle and some of the timing features are quite different than what we were used to. But because I am on a fixed income cost was an issue.

Seems like a decent microwave for the price. Time will tell on how long it will last. I bought the extended warranty because of that concern. Poor instructions with it. Couldn't figure out the defrost feature when it said to put in a food code. Where was that? After a few weeks, we saw it was inside the door. No indication in instructions for that.

Can't heat after 5 minutes

I have had this microwave for several years and it has been very disappointing from day 1. It does great for 5 minutes then you can't heat anything else after that for like an hour. So if we cook a bag of steamed veggies, for example, we can't heat our chicken after that. It runs after the 5 minutes and sounds normal, it just doesn't help the food get warm. It works great for those 5 minutes, but it is challenging to not be able to use it when you want to heat more than one thing or if my roommates and I are trying to eat at the same time and heat up our different meals.

It quit working. As senior citizens we feel like a product this new should have been replaced but in our estimation you don™€™t stand behind your product. Not to mention having a serviceman tell me he™€™s going to uninstall the product and rebuild it in my kitchen floor is ludicrous. And then reinstall. I paid for a NEW microwave not a rebuilt one. If I wanted a rebuilt one I would have had the one I replaced fixed.

Good microwave for most things, but not popcorn! The popcorn button only pops the bag half full no matter the setting you choose. Adding more time doesn't work. Using regular mode and waiting for 2-3 second per pop (a standard way to make microwave popcorn) leads to burnt popcorn. So your options are a half popped bag or burnt.

I purchased this a year ago. It's been a great microwave. Every once and awhile, when the oven below is on, the vent does kick on, which is fine. We've only been able to turn it off by unplugging and replugging.

Sorry - the quality of the internals have led us to put this machine on hold from time to time with what sounds like sparking. It happens intermittently and is the same problem we had with the one before. The quality of these appliances these days vs. 20 years ago just blows and it needs to be addressed. The cost to the consumer is fine - but I would pay a bit more for something that would last like they used to. The fit and finish on the out is ok. The second thing is the door latch. After you close it, the unit will not start. You need to open the door then close it again then it will start. Same as the previous unit. We have tried 2 times now. The first of these units lasted 5 years. This one has the same issues, right out of the box. They are a pain to install and we will deal with it till it just does not work anymore. Below the submit button are 3 optional areas to provide more information. As a consumer, they do not work before I hit the submit button and don™€™t understand the process. We will see what happens when I hit submit. Either way, please look into that from the consumer™€™s side. Thanks.
